Welcome to our Crayons to Calculators Coordinators –Parker and Madeline!
The 2019 Crayons to Calculators school supply drive is off to a great start with our two Site Coordinators! C2C welcomes back Parker Nicholas to our St. Vrain location and welcomes newcomer, Madeline Chandler to the Boulder Valley site. Both young ladies come to Crayons to Calculators with a great amount of passion and commitment to the students in Boulder County. We hope you love them as much as we do:
Parker Nicholas: I am a 2018 graduate of Silver Creek High School in Longmont where I participated in the Leadership Academy. For my Senior Capstone project, I took on the challenge to build upon the curriculum for the then pilot Instructional Student Assistant mentoring program. The curriculum I developed grew the program beyond a basic peer-mentoring program and it is now being used in the ISA program at several of the SVVSD High Schools. I recently completed my freshman year at Colorado Mesa University. I plan to major in Secondary Education with a focus on English and History. It was so fun tapping into my outdoor self and exploring “the other side of the mountain” this year. I have been involved with the Crayons to Calculators program for over three years. This is my second year as the Site Coordinator for the Education Foundation of St. Vrain Valley. I look forward to seeing so many of the returning volunteers and hope to see a whole bunch of new faces as well!
Madeline Chandler: I recently earned my B.A. in Political Science and History from CU Boulder, where I became interested in the intersection between law, politics, education and public policy. During undergrad, I was Student Chair of the Politics and Media Committee for the Conference on World Affairs, as well as a volunteer coordinator. Additionally, I volunteered for the CU Restorative Justice Program and was a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Pre-law Fraternity. I am very excited to spend my summer working for Crayons to Calculators where there is a passion for building community, supporting students, and fostering equal opportunity. After this summer, I will be attending the University of Denver Sturm College of Law to pursue a J.D.
Both Madeline and Parker will be at the Volunteer Packing sites each day and are able to answer your individual or group volunteer needs. They look forward to working with you!
